Sacred Geometry: The Heart of Our Design

Symbols can be subjective and depicted in different forms, but what do they mean to you, and what do they make you think of? The following ideas may have crossed your mind: a mark, a sign (abstract or physical), perhaps an emblem or a logo. Could it be that you thought of religion or spirituality? Maybe certain numbers cross your mind.

At Ajooni, our design style is centred around and memorable, symbolic design. Therefore sacred geometry is at the heart of what we do. And what could be more symbolic than oneness with geometry?

What is Sacred Geometry?

We are surrounded by sacred geometry. These mathematical patterns make up the essence of the very universe we know and understand, effortlessly connecting the visible and invisible.

From the Fibonacci Spiral to the Golden Ratio, Platonic solids to the Flower of Life, these geometric symbols stem from nature and energy, bestowing a sacred foundation to design.

Each shape and symbol gifts its own bank of mystic characteristics and their forms can be seen in almost everything. A good example is the Fibonacci sequence, present in pine cones, snail shells, our bodies and the Pyramids.

How is Sacred Geometry Used in Design?

Sacred geometry vibrates with power, conjuring comfort in humans, even if we aren’t able to physically see it. The spiritual fundamentals of these shapes and patterns results in feelings of harmony, interconnectedness, and an affinity with the universe. Naturally, it makes sense to use it in design.

Used in many forms, sacred geometry is arguably integral to the initial planning and design process. If your end goal is to achieve balance, provoke positive emotions and soothe the soul, you’ll want to apply these mathematical patterns as your basis for design.

Here’s a few examples of how it can be used:

  • Art and Graphic Design (see our work for examples)

  • Photography (e.g., focal point)

  • Architecture (e.g., dividing space)

  • Interior design (e.g., planning and space)

  • Music (e.g., creating harmonies)

  • Landscaping (e.g., planning, space and colour)

What Makes Sacred Geometry So Special?

You may be wondering how sacred geometry (when used in graphic design) can induce a more agreeable emotion in people. How does it work, and what is the importance in using it?

Here’s a few reasons why it is favourable and how it might help you feel more balanced:

  • The mathematical language of space and symbols can change the way we look at letters, words, and graphics positively.

  • The belief that everything is connected in the universe and the cosmos that unites it all, underpins the process of creation. Unity leads to wholeness.

  • An ancient science, sacred geometry organises the design process, the beginnings of form and creation. This organisation helps us attain calmness and balance.

Why Sacred Geometry is at the Core of the Ajooni Brand

We believe it is vital for brands to use a design system. A system produces recognisable, memorable results, and it is important for us to maintain consistency and provide structure. The word ‘ajooni’ itself is sacred, constituting infinite wholeness, something beyond death and living.

Our system is sacred and thrives on the belief of order being at the centre of good design. Undoubtedly, there is nothing better than using the origins of all that we know as a mapping. Therefore, sacred geometry is fundamental in all our design principles. We use it in all our graphic design work to underpin layouts and proportions, including brand logos, type, and layouts.

From the basis, to planning, creation to completion, our work, processes, and principles reflect and reinforce our spiritual business ethos. If you feel our ethics are in line with what you would want to represent your brand, then we would love to speak with you and answer any questions.
